Optimize Windows Registry

One strategy that you can utilize for increasing the performance and speed of your PC is the process where you optimize your Windows registry. This will help eliminate errors, random computer crashes, blue screens of death, random DLL errors, and more.

What can you do to speed up your PC?

There are a number of actions you can take in order to do so. One thing you can do right off the bat is remove programs from the Windows startup process. Any programs that don’t need to run during the startup of Windows should not be. Allowing them to run during this process can only slow it down.

It is also common practice for a new application that you are installing to put itself on the list of programs that startup during the Windows startup task. Sometimes you have the option of allowing it to startup when Windows starts up. This option may be presented to you toward the end of the installation process. If this is the case, you should always choose to not allow it to start up on Windows startup, unless for some reason you need to.

Here are the steps for removing unwanted programs from the Windows startup task:

Windows XP
1. Click Start.
2. Click Run.
3. Type “msconfig” and hit enter.
4. Select the Start Up tab.

Here you will find a long list of programs that start up when the Windows start up process takes place. Some of them are system critical and should remain where they are, others may be common every day applications that do not need to run during this time. You can uncheck items such as Yahoo messenger, iTunes, Google Desktop, and any others that you could simply open up on your own once Windows has launched.

5. Click Apply.

Once you click Apply, you will have to restart your computer in order for these changes to take place. You may be able to see the difference immediately as your computer is able to load Windows faster.

You can also use a registry cleaner to optimize your Windows registry even more. When your computer gets used, it is very likely that it will eventually experience registry errors which can greatly decrease the performance of your PC.

Other errors can be caused by registry errors so there is a sort of trickling affect when there are issues in the registry of your Windows operating system. It is at this time that registry optimization is in order, and this can best be done by using a registry cleaner.

You can attempt to clean the registry yourself by using RegEdit, but you’ll quickly find that the number of hours required to analyze the entire registry is much greater than what you probably have available. Also, there is a high amount of danger involved when you manually edit the registry. One mistake could potentially make your computer inoperable.

Use a registry cleaner to quickly and efficiently analyze your windows registry and fix any issues that may exists without having to spend hours on end trying to do it yourself.
