This error typically occurs during the event when the program you are using tries to access a file that is no longer where it should be, or the file has become corrupt for one reason or another. These are typically the main reasons for this error.
If this occurs, and there is no other location where the file can be accessed or there is no other type of error handling implanted in the program, then the error will occur.
Avoiding Runtime Errors
One method for repairing runtime errors on your PC is to completely remove or uninstall the program in question from your PC. This will essentially give you a clean slate to work with. Programs can be removed from the Add/Remove Programs tool in the Control Panel. Once you have completely uninstalled the program, you can reinstall it to see if the issue has been resolved.
You can also prevent runtime errors by keeping your programs up to date with the latest updates, fixes, and security patches. You want to do this because as programs evolve, they need to be maintained which often times means fixing issues that have been discovered along the course of their life. The source of the runtime errors may be an issue that was previously discovered by someone else, in which case there may be a fix available. This is where keeping your system up to date would be advantageous.
You may also have a compatibility issue between your system and the program that you are trying to run. Make sure that your system meets the requirements of all software that you are attempting to install.
